The Grand Acquaintance Party

To mark the opening of every school year, it has been a tradition in any school to hold an acquaintance party. As the word itself implies, it is the coming together of all the students in all year levels (high school or college) so they could get to know each other better. Or if not, at least party and enjoy together!

For the administrative and faculty members, and of course for the students of STI Naga, this year’s acquaintance party is more than the usual getting-to-know you stuff. This year, we held our GRAND Acquaintance Party with a “BIG BANG!” in line with our Silver Anniversary Celebration.

July 26. 2008, Saturday, was our big day. Everybody was dressed for the occasion and the party ambiance of Lolo’s Bar at Avenue Square matched our mood. The program, which started in the afternoon and ended the following morning, was filled with excitement and anticipation as the students eagerly await the participants of our Social Competition strut their talents LIVE on stage!. It was fun-filled night packed with exciting activities like the Battle of the Bands, Hataw Sayaw, Pop Idol and of course the highlight of the night, the Search for Mr. & Ms. STI 2008.

FiveFold Griffin, All Star Dota Boys and Louie Albert Intia, the local incarnation of Gary Valenciano, were declared champions in the first three events respectively. The much coveted titles of Mr. and Ms. STI, on the other hand, were given to HRS students Alan Rahmatulin and Ava Christine Cañeba.

Immediately after the awarding of winners and coronation of the Mr. & Ms. STI beauties, Thantasmagoria, Bicol’s premiere Reggae Group, fired-up the dance floor with their own rendition of Brownman Revivals’ hits like “Maling Akala” and “Lintik” and other dance tracks popularized by both foreign and local artists. The music and the energy of the band channeled into the crowd brought the house wildly dancing. During performance break, world-class bartenders of Lolo’s Bar showed their expertise in extreme bartending exhibitions to the amazements of the students!

The event was organized by the Supreme Student Council (SCC), the faculty and administrative staff of STI Naga. The active participants of this year’s event were under the tutelage of the Institution’s instructors and dedicated staff.

We, indeed, celebrated a dazzling silver-plated event! Congratulations to us all and let us continue moving forward hitting the gold!
